FAQ

Membership

You can apply to the executive board informally. The number of members in ITEMO is however limited, thus we attach importance to having members who are as active as possible. From our perspective, it is therefore sensible when someone has already contributed as a guest in one or more working groups before applying for membership. An individual membership is free of charge.

Please contact either the executive board or the head of the working group so that you can be invited to the next working group. The easiest way is to write a mail to office@itemo.org with the note, in which working group you want to participate.

Only a person (not a legal persons) can become a member. However, it is possible for a legal person or another organisation to support the organisation as a sustaining member.

No. Of course, it would be welcomed if your training company wanted to become a sustaining member. Please note, we reserve the right to change this and other rules at any time.

SCRUM trainings

In collaboration with ITEMO, TÜV SÜD offers an internationally recognised certified qualification as per ISO 17024 in agile project management according to SCRUM.

Training providers and consulting companies now have the opportunity to offer their customers relevant training. Care has been taken to ensure that the cost of the entering the market for the training companies is kept as small as possible.

The training scheme has two levels. In the foundation level, there is a certificate that attests that the holder has basic fundamental knowledge of SCRUM. In the second professional level, dual certification is possible as SCRUM master and SCRUM product owner and confirms the holder’s in-depth knowledge of these areas.

The participant must have a foundation level certificate and prove their attendance at a training course in order to be able to sit the exams at the professional level.

The SCRUM foundation training usually lasts two days, whereas the professional training courses are divided into three units which each last a day:

  • General
  • SCRUM Master
  • Product Owner

Please contact TÜV SÜD for information about becoming an accredited training organisation here.
You must currently fulfil the following requirements as a training organisation:
1. Evidence of a quality management process or QM system in the field of training organisations.
2. At least one accredited training instructor for the desired level.

The training instructor needs to hold the relevant certificate in order to become accredited for that level (foundation, SCRUM master and/or SCRUM product owner).
As there are no admission requirements such as attending a training course for the foundation examination, it is possible to enrol your training instructor either for an open examination held at TÜV SÜD or for an examination with training partner already accredited.

Dates of open examinations at TÜV SÜD are: Link to follow List of accredited training organisations SCRUM Trainingsorganisationen
Attendance at a SCRUM training must however be proven for admission to the professional examination.

If you think that your existing qualification is sufficient, you have the following possibility:

Please make an informal application to ITEMO with suitable evidence of your qualifications, e.g. certificates from the other provider.
ITEMO experts will carry out an appraisal of these and forward their findings to TÜV SÜD.
TÜV SÜD will issue a temporary trainer accreditation for six months. The obligation to attend a training course will be lifted.
The temporary accreditation will be changed into a permanent accreditation once the required examinations have been passed (max. two attempts).

Each SCRUM level has a syllabus with several subject areas and a weighting scheme. This weighting scheme states how long the subject area should be taught in the training course and how many questions from each subject area are to be asked in the examination.
The didactic method of how the syllabus is to be taught is left up to the training organisation. Training documents can, but must not, be used.
If you are interested in training documents which correspond to the syllabus, then you can contact an already accredited training organisation and enquire about an appropriate licensing agreement.

The syllabus and sample examinations have been published in German and English on the ITEMO website at https://www.itemo.org/publications/viewcategory/4-working-group-results-public and are freely available to everyone.
